The Fleet 12 season championship is decided by a series of designated regattas held around the Bay. Each regatta on the schedule is marked as Local, Away, or Season Championship, and only the Season Championship regattas count toward the standings.
Scoring
At each championship regatta, only your final position in the event counts. Your race-by-race points don't. If you finish the regatta 1st overall, you score 1; if you finish 3rd overall, you score 3. The hosting club's official results are used as published, including any throwouts the club applies. Your season score is the total of your final positions from all championship regattas, and the lowest total wins.
Missed regattas
If you don't sail a championship regatta, you're scored as if you finished one place behind the last boat in that event. For example, if 12 boats sailed the event, a missed regatta counts as 13. This is marked "DNC" (did not compete) in the standings.
Ties
If two sailors finish the season on the same total, the tie goes to the sailor with more better finishes: more 1st places first, then more 2nd places, and so on. If they're still tied, it goes to whoever placed higher at the most recent championship regatta.
Who is scored
Standings are kept by skipper. Crew are welcome to rotate during the season without affecting the skipper's score.
The standings update automatically as results from each championship regatta are posted.
